I'm very excited to show you all a picture of my savings jar! I have saved $25 since we started last month with the coupon clipping. Obviously $25 is not a lot of money...but to me its like $250!!! I have only saved $25 because I haven't done real grocery shopping. I have picked up a few tidbits to make for dinner here and there but mostly I use things that I have on hand. I went to kroger at the beginning of August and saved $25 dollars buying the things that were on sale. No coupons used at all. I still have a ton of coupons that I can't wait to use (if they don't expire first)! So...below is a pic of my savings jar, although I saved $25 you will only see $20 in my jar....times are hard man! LOL!
Hope this gives you all inspiration to start putting your savings in a jar! I'm really excited to see and read what everyone else has saved! :o)

No whammys....BIG BUCKS (Deals)!! Stop!
Hey there savers!
I trust that you all have been diligent in your saving. Remember that the challenge will last through Dec. 31, 2010. Make sure that you are keeping track of your total savings and keeping the total difference in a special place so you can see your savings pile up. On Sept. 1st I'd like to have everybody list how much they've saved in a month and if possible post pics of their savings jars (if that was the method chosen by you)! Let me know what you guys think of that! Anywho, back to business...
In finding more ways to save I ran across a website called Groupon (link will be posted below). This website gives amazing deals for your specific area. Today (while in Atlanta) one of the big deals was a massage for $40 for 55 mins! I know that all of you could use a good massage right about now! But if a massage is not what you're looking for there are plenty of other great deals listed on there as well!
So check out the website:

Kroger Savings
Hey savers!
Recently I had an amazing shopping experience at Kroger and ended up saving $13.28.Obviously I was extra excited but thought...what if I could have saved more??
Today I got on the Kroger.com website and saw that you get coupons put on your Kroger Plus Card. All you have to do is sign up for an account and you can click the coupons you want for extra savings! Some of them expire so watch out for the expiration dates! A limit of 150 coupons can be added to your card at a time! Whoo hoo!!
Hope this helps! :o)

Get Ready to Save pt. 2
Hello savers,
I forgot to mention that it may be in your best interest to create an email account solely for the purpose of receiving coupons and newsletters from manufacturers and coupon websites, otherwise your personal email account may be bombarded with things that you don't want to "weed" through to get to your important emails.
This is simply a suggestion and is not required at all! Hope it helps though!
Happy saving! :)
Get Ready to Save!!!
Hello future money savers! :)
I am very excited to be sending you guys this email to see how much money we can save! Below is the information that I was presented on Friday about saving up to 70% on your grocery bill.
1. Getting Started: There are tons of ways to get coupons! Probably the most common way is to buy or subscribe to get the Sunday paper. For those of you on Facebook if you "like" certain manufacturers you may get coupons for a percentage off of your next purchase, you will also receive updates for future buys. Magazines, peelies. blinkies, and tear pads in the grocery stores, store displays and online coupon websites are also other ways to get tons of coupons!
2. Coupon Etiquette: Coupon fraud (photo copying coupons) is illegal. For extra savings instead of copying the coupon stack a manufacturer's coupon with a store coupon. Limit your quantities, buy what your family needs for 6 weeks (grocery store cycles are every six weeks, so if Mayo goes on sale or is buy one get one free (BOGO) buy what you need to last your family until it goes back on sale in 6 weeks). Bless others, if you buy something that maybe your family doesn't go through as fast as other things give the surplus to a church or soup kitchen or homeless shelter that can use the food to help feed those in need. :)
3. ORGANIZE: Once you start accumulating coupons the next task is to organize them. The idea that was presented to me was to get folders to put coupons for the different stores in which you may use them. For instance, a red folder with slots for coupons for Target, or a blue folder for Walmart. Whatever method of organization works best for you, implement it with the coupons.
4. Create a shopping list: This is pretty self explanatory however, there are 2 methods you can use to create your shopping list: Stockpiling (filling up your pantry based on what's on sale) and menu planning ( planning your weekly or bi-weekly menu based on what's on sale). Pros of stockpiling are that you are able to buy when prices are lowest and you have what you need without going out. This method is best for larger families. Pros of menu planning are that you can plan meals around the coupons that are available, some websites will plan meals with coupon matchups. This method may take some time.
5. Websites! :) (there are tons out there but these are the ones I chose to list)
6. The Challenge: The challenge is simple, from Aug 1st through Dec 31st SAVE MONEY!!! By using the methods listed above along with the websites see how much money you can save. Create a "save jar" and for the difference left over from your grocery bill (what the total was and what you paid) put it in the jar and watch your savings pile up. Now, the jar is definitely optional but definitely keep track of how much you're saving so we can add it all up at the end of the year!
I can't wait to start saving! Let me know if you have any ideas of how we can keep each other going. I want to post pics of how everybody is doing so we can keep each other encouraged and informed!
Love you guys! Lets save some MONEY!!!! :)
